Been goofing around with the Polar Coordinate filter in Photoshop CS5. Take a horizontal photo. Resize it square without constraining proportions. Turn it so the middle of the result is facing up. Apply polar coordinate filter in Photoshop. Rotate to the orientation you want. And voila! Weird spheres.
